Zero Net homes (ZNE’s) are the talk of the residential landscape across Canada, and now North America’s largest privately-owned home builder is officially part of the movement. A striking new 1658 square foot house in Calgary’s NE community of CityScape built by Mattamy Homes is the first of five similar residences to be completed by spring 2016.
“This flagship project will help pave the way for Mattamy, as well as other production homebuilders, to make Net Zero homes available in more communities,” said Brad Carr, President, Mattamy Homes Canada.
Net Zero Energy homes are energy efficient residences that generate as much energy as they consume on an annual basis, made possible due to such innovative features as advanced insulation (the Owens Corning™ CodeBord® Air Barrier System); Plygem triple-pane windows; Mitsubishi Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump; Rheem High Efficiency Domestic Hot Water Heater, Eyedro real-time energy monitoring system; and 40 SolarMax photovoltaic panels.
