There is a growing buzz in the home building industry about Net-Zero Energy Housing (NZEH). Decades of Canadian voluntary high-performance projects and programs have paved the way – from the MARK houses (1950s) to the CMHC EQuilibrium homes (2009-2012). Recent updates to the R-2000 Standard have bumped up the efficiency requirements. Some would say the next logical progression for the program would be to evolve into a “made-in-Canada” NZEH voluntary labelling program.
